This is the most rugged and challenging of the six paths up Snowdon. Nobody knows exactly why in this way is called the track PYG - it is possible that it was after the pass, Bwlch y Moch (Pigs Step '), or perhaps because it was used to wear "PGY" (black tar) mines copper. Another theory is that the road to the nearby Pen y Gwryd Hotel, has been named the favorite with hikers soon.
